CARE OF GOTS FABRICS

GOTS vertified fabrics can be machine washed at 30 degrees on a delicate cycle.
We reccomend using a natural, plant based laundry detergent.

We do not recommend tumble drying or dry cleaning, or the use of bleaching agents.

NATURAL FIBRE PRODUCTS

Most de Le Cuona fabrics are made of natural fibres, Linen, Cotton, Wool, Cashmere, Silk, etc. We choose to use natural fibres for a number of reasons, but predominantly the charm with which they age; their comfort against the skin and the fact that they are sustainable, organic and bio-degradable. Natural fibres will change colour with exposure to heat, moisture, abrasion and UV light. The yarns will wear, soften and distress and this will add to the beauty and charm of the product.

Regular vacuum cleaning to remove surface dust should decrease the need for, and increase the interval between dry cleaning or washing.

Many of our products undergo some mystical artisanal finishing processes to achieve their unique ‘handle’ and ‘drape’; we recommend dry-cleaning to preserve many of these finish characteristics.

For any questions regarding care, please contact our Head Office Customer Service team in Windsor, London or NY; we are always happy to advise on product care or cleaning.

MOVEMENT IN THE FABRIC

Many natural fibres will absorb the moisture in the air around them, as they absorb and release the moisture the fibres will swell and shrink and over a long length of fabric this can be seen in changes to the hanging length. It is for this reason that many Designers will allow curtain lengths to ‘pool’ or gather on the ground – by making the curtain excessively long this natural movement in the ‘drop-length’ is absorbed by the ‘pooled’ fabric.

After washing or dry-cleaning, the fibres will have absorbed or released moisture according to the cleaning process and storage environment, it is therefore prudent when returning them to their original position to allow 2 to 3 days for the fabric to ‘relax’ back to its original position.
